How it works

Practical training, real connections

If you are new to the United States and have been in the country less than 5 years and want to start your own business, our Global Resource Program can help. The goal is to build a comprehensive and accessible program for new immigrants, refugees, and asylum seekers to create an entrepreneurial pathway — with practical training to develop realistic business plans and build a sustainable business in Oakland County.

  • A business guide for newcomers to Oakland County, where you can learn about different resources for newcomer entrepreneurs.
  • Immigrant special-skills recognition for those who have acquired business skills, training, or qualifications outside of the U.S.
  • 1:1 business consultations with potential and existing Oakland County business owners.
